About the Authors
For more than 25 years, Kathleen Huggins, R.N., M.S., has dedicated her medical career to helping mothers prepare and care for their newborn babies. A registered nurse, Huggins spent two decades as a perinatal clinical specialist and lactation consultant at San Luis Obispo General Hospital in California. During this time she co-directed the Breastfeeding Warmline, a telephone counseling service for nursing mothers. Huggins is now the owner of the maternity shop Simply Mama in San Luis Obispo, California, where she lives with her husband and youngest child.
Gale Pryor is the coauthor of the best-selling Nursing Your Baby, now in its fourth edition. Her work has appeared in numerous parenting magazines and corporate and healthcare communications. She lives with her husband and three sons in Belmont, Massachusetts.
Linda Ziedrich is the longtime parenting-book editor for The Harvard Common Press.
She works from her home near Scio, Oregon, where she lives with her family.
Maureen Connolly is coauthor, with Dana Sullivan, of The Essential C-Section Guide, voted the number two parenting book of 2004 by Amazon.com. She is a contributor to RealSavvyMoms.com and the award-winning public television series Real Moms, Real Stories, Real Savvy. She is the former health editor for Redbook and Parenting magazines and has also written for Parenting, Redbook, Self, Family Circle, and BabyCenter.com. Connolly has appeared on national television, including CNN and The Today Show. She lives in Montclair, New Jersey, with her husband, three boys, and dog, Kelsey.
Dana Sullivan, also a contributor to Unbuttoned, co-wrote The Essential C-Section Guide with Maureen Connolly. She is currently a regular contributor to Fit Pregnancy, O: The Oprah Magazine, Woman’s Day, and Health. She has also written for Outside, Real Simple, More, Self, Shape, and Glamour. She lives in Reno, Nevada, with her husband and three children.
Jan Ellen Brown
Jan Ellen Brown, I.B.C.L.C., is a board-certified lactation consultant who, over the past 20 years, has helped countless families meet their breastfeeding goals. A retired La Leche leader and mother of two daughters, she gives frequent lectures on breastfeeding and parenting issues and practices with a pediatric group. She lives and works in Charlotte, North Carolina.
